Guam FAQ

There is no software to purchase. Metrc is cloud hosted and will be made available to all industry participants. There are two costs associated with Metrc’s “seed-to-sale” inventory tracking system: 1. A monthly $40.00 licensing fee for each licensee (i.e. cultivator, processor, testing laboratory and dispensary) that covers training and support. 2. Cost associated with procurement of $0.45 for plant tags and $0.25 for package tags from Metrc.

The Metrc system combines proprietary software and plant tags embedded with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to track the lifecycle of every plant under regulated cultivation. When harvested, package tags continue to track material until it is sold, proving complete supply chain visibility to regulators.

Metrc LLC has a dedicated team of support staff who will be available to resolve any technical support issues. The support desk can be contacted via phone or email.

No. Information in the system is private and confidential, available only to regulators. Licensees are provided access to only their own information in the Metrc system. Licensees are not able to see information about other licensees.

The Metrc system tracks marijuana and marijuana products from growth to the point of sale. Metrc’s open Application Programming Interface (API) allows licensees to upload plant and product data directly into the system using third-party inventory management and point-of-sale software. Each licensee is responsible for ensuring their ability to interface with Guam’s procured system. All licensees are required to use the tags supplied by Metrc LLC.

Metrc’s open Application Programming Interface (API) gives third-party providers the ability to upload information directly into Metrc’s database. The list of service providers validated in Metrc’s system is available here.

Metrc is a completely web-hosted system. That means that all access to Metrc is done via the internet and only requires an internet connection and a web browser. No additional hardware is required.  Also, there is no software to download, install, or maintain. Barcode and/or RFID readers are optional accessories that a licensee may choose to use. A decision to buy such additional equipment is made at the sole discretion of the individual licensee.

Once a provisional license is awarded by the Department of Public Health & Social Services, training will be provided by Metrc to the provisional licensees as they work toward receiving a Certificate of Operation. Training will be required as part of establishing compliance with the inventory tracking system, which is required for a Certificate of Operation to be issued. Metrc has a YouTube page where potential licensees can view how the system works.
