Metrc announced the addition of Lewis Koski as Chief Operating Officer to its growing national team. In this role, Koski will oversee the program management, provisioning, and support departments, as well as two new departments, business development and project management. Koski will help the company strengthen its current partnerships with state governments while seeking to expand Metrc into other states, bringing new legal cannabis markets online.
“We’re excited to have Lewis join us and continue building upon our already strong state partnerships in 13 jurisdictions,” said Metrc CEO Jeff Wells. “His firsthand experience in law enforcement on top of his policy expertise is unmatched in the industry. Lewis’s tireless commitment to serving the best interests of state partners fits the ethos of our company. We are thrilled to have him on board as he helps Metrc continue to grow.”
Koski brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in the cannabis industry. After serving for 18 years in Colorado law enforcement, Koski became Director of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division, the first agency in the world to implement medical and adult-use cannabis policy using a seed-to-sale tracking system. After his time in state government, Koski co-founded Freedman & Koski to help government agencies and businesses navigate cannabis policies.
“Metrc is revolutionary in the track-and-trace space, helping state governments strengthen compliance and businesses integrate into the legal market,” said Koski. “I’ve seen the effectiveness of Metrc’s system from all sides – during my time in state government, while in the private sector advising stakeholders on best practices, and now within the company itself. As the cannabis industry continues to grow, I look forward to making safety the first priority.”
